About Webuseful Web Site Design
We use the web to give our clients a competitive advantage.
Our work with graphic designers enables them to reach out to more clients, by completing projects which are beyond their in-house skills.
Our development skills can help you launch new projects or increase the efficiency of existing ones.
Why we love our job
Getting to know our clients
We love getting to know our clients. We think that websites should convey the character of the company, not just its colour scheme. To do this we spend time talking to all our clients so that we understand their business. Not just what they do, but also why they do it.
Enhancing our skills
We love learning new skills. What's possible on the web is changing every day. Features that once required million-dollar budgets are now available to small & medium businesses. Every day we learn something new, that helps us give our clients a competitive advantage.
Harlow and Essex
We live & work in Harlow and take proud in the town. It has it's challenges, but also has many things to take pride in.
We are long-standing members of Essex Wildlife Trust.

Who We Are
Techy In Chief
Webuseful was set up by Steve Jack, to capitalise on his extensive experience in IT, the web, and e-commerce. Steve achieved a first class degree in Computing in 1985, and has worked in the industry ever since. He has experience as developer, providing support, and as a manager.
Prior to starting Webuseful Steve was Head of IT for online share trading company IWeb Share Dealing. Steve worked on the project from its inception. In the 3 years after going live in 2001 the company gained 30,000 clients and reached £3 million in trades per day.
Before that, Steve held various management roles in the City branch of an Italian bank. His responsibilities included the dealing room IT services, and the business continuity provision. He was involved in the Euro conversion project and the Year 2000 project.
Steve is a member of the British Computer Society, the industry body for IT professionals. As such, he is bound by the Society's Codes of Conduct and Practice
The name Webuseful comes from Steve's favourite saying to his IT colleagues : “Being useful is more important than being clever”
Social Media Expert
Jo has been fascinated by the internet for a decade now and has participated in a variety of internet groups and forums on a wide range of differing interests – martial arts, web hosting, online marketing and writing. This was the beginnings of what became ‘social media’.
The advent of local SEO and Social gave Jo an opportunity which fits her area of experience very nicely. It enables her to use her writing and communication skills and social networking ability to promote local businesses.
Writing is one of Jo’s passions. She always tries to try to ensure that any work with her name on it gives the reader something valuable and insightful about the subject in question.
Jo knows that the internet can be an intimidating and confusing place. Her goal is to demystify the online terminology and processes to enable everyone to access its potential – and to eradicate rogue apostrophes along the way!
Many of our sites are developed in co-operation with our design partner, Roy Hammans of Art2Science. Art2Science has been involved with design for the web since its inception in the mid-1990s.
Art2science also caters for print, display, presentation and publication requirements across a wide range of disciplines. A mainstay of their approach is client interaction and 'usability', ensuring that the end result not only meets the needs of the client but also conveys information to the viewer in as clear and user-friendly a way as possible.
Every job is treated as a personal project, with involvement and attention to detail given to ensure that everyone is happy with the end result.
