Why we love WordPress 2: it’s easy to use.
If you can create documents with Word, then you can create and maintain a website with WordPress.
To add a new page to your site, just click on Pages/Add new. Give the page a title (which is shown in the menu) and some content, click “publish”, and it’s published.
To add the content you use an editor that looks & feels much like Word. Here’s a screenshot, which probably looks quite familiar
All the buttons do what you expect them to do. To add an image, just drag-and-drop. WordPress will resize the image for you, which is important in making your pages load quickly. It will even arrange to serve smaller images on smaller screens, like phones.
Of course, if you want a more complex layout, say with different number of columns for different parts of the page, you’ll need a more complex editor. There are lots to choose from. I’ll write about that in a future blog.
I spend all day working on websites, and I use WordPress for this blog, because it simply works so well with so little effort.
