Why we love WordPress 3: it’s very popular.
WordPress is very popular. It’s the most widely used content management system. It’s more widely used than all the other systems put together. Around 30% of the web uses WordPress, from simple hobby sites to the biggest news sites. Examples include BBC America and Disney.
Why does this matter to you? Because it means WordPress is very well supported. If you want to find a new company to host you web site, or to develop it, there’s plenty of choice. Some web developers tell you their own in-house system is better. That’s unlikely to be true. Using their system will lock you into using them for everything, for ever.
If you want a new design, there are more than 3,000 free themes available. If you want to add new functionality, there are more than 48,000 plugins available, and many are free. Sometimes the legal requirements for websites change, for example cookie notices and GDPR. There are always WordPress plugins to add the required functionality.
Also, WordPress is future-proof. It’s so big that there will always be people willing to develop, host and support it.
